About Us

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, was established in 1953 in Irving, Texas.  In 2003 Good Shepherd celebrated 50 years of ministry dedicated to proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ.  It is a privilege to welcome new families and individuals into our Christian fellowship.  People are always surprised to discover that the focus of our church is not on rules and commandments, but on forgiveness and love.  Our shared mission is simply this…”To Make Christ Known”.  We work together in order to accomplish this by sharing our stories of faith in worship, Christian education, and mutual ministry.

Good Shepherd has always considered children to be an important part of it's ministry.  Through the guidance provided in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes and the loving attention given to all the children, Jesus' words “Let the little children come to me” are experienced in the lives of the children who come to Good Shepherd.  We make it a priority to recognize important steps in a child’s life and relationship with Christ with special training and ceremonies through the Faith Stepping Stones program.

Good Shepherd has an active Food Ministry, Choir and Hand Chime Choir, varied Parish Education programs, as well as community fellowship and involvement.

Good Shepherd is blessed to have a beautiful worship space, which was dedicated in 1988.  Of contemporary design, the sanctuary features a collection of stained glass windows, five on each side and one center window depicting Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd, plus one in the bell tower.  Also in 1988, Good Shepherd celebrated the acquisition and dedication of a 1035 pipe Redman Organ, which enriches our inspirational worship services every Sunday.
